Question: Can someone receive unemployment benefits while actively seeking employment due to resent termination?
Answer: Looking for a new job is full time work. Unemployment compensation is a benefit to assist you while you are looking for that new job. If you qualify, the amount of your unemployment check will be between $32 and $275 per week, depending on your previous earnings. There are several ways to apply for benefits: through the Internet, by mail, fax or telephone. The Internet is the fastest, easiest and recommended way to file your claim. Go to our website at www.wf1broward.com. Click on Job Seeker; click on Special Services; click on Florida Unemployment Claims or use the link below by copying and pasting into your browser. http://www.floridajobs.org/unemployment/uc_emp_claims.html. Of course, you can always come in to one of three Broward One-Stop Centers for assistance.
